New Delhi: The motorcycle patrolling unit of New Delhi district arrested two snatchers from Pachkuiyan Road area. Police identify the accused as Rajeev (24) and Bhupender (22). Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Eish Singhal, elaborating on the modus operandi, said that the accused used to visit the area of New Delhi on a motorcycle, looking for people moving on foot and talking on the phone. As soon as any such target is found, they snatch his or her phone and flee from the spot. DCP New Delhi further said that with a view to curb the snatching in the area of New Delhi District, strategic motorcycle patrolling has been implemented on the affected routes. Under this a pair of motorcycles with armed police personnel patrol vulnerable areas to prevent and curb the incidence of these crimes. Both the accused were arrested on August 18. Adding further, DCP New Delhi said that they sell these snatched mobile phones to unsuspecting passersby by showing that they need money under compulsion and hence are willing to sell their phone even at a low price. "People generally fall prey to it and get carried away and readily buy such phones," said DCP New Delhi. Accused Rajeev works as labour in a printing press. In order to earn quick money, he took to snatching. On further verification, he was found involved in two cases of robbery and theft. The other accused Bhupender earns his livelihood by ironing clothes in his colony.
