Delhi Police asks its officers to curb misuse of IGL smart cards

New Delhi: Delhi Police has directed their officers to conduct surprise checks at CNG filling stations from where the city police vehicles are being filled. Sources told Millennium Post that proper data should be maintained by districts and units regarding issuing of IGL smart cards to drivers/vehicles. The data of refilling the CNG in Delhi Police vehicles through IGL smart cards shall be sent to provisioning and logistics (P&L) unit on the fortnightly basis for proper monitoring and cross-checking. "Supervisory officers of Motor Transport (MT) section of districts and units, randomly check records at the CNG stations as well as monitor the CCTV footage to find out misuse of IGL smart cards. Any instance noticed for misuse of IGL smart card will be viewed seriously," wrote a senior officer in the circular.

Sources claimed that several complaints including verbal and written regarding the misuse of IGL smart cards by the drivers of Delhi Police along with the connivance of employees of IGL pumps were being received in the unit of city police. Sources claimed that a circular has been issued in this regard by the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (provisioning and logistic) and copy of the circular has also been sent to all districts and units DCsP. Adding further, circular read that to streamline the process of filling of CNG by drivers of Delhi Police, some directions may adhere. Sources told Millennium Post that proper data should be maintained by districts and units regarding issuing of IGL smart cards to drivers/vehicles. The data of refilling the CNG in Delhi Police vehicles through IGL smart cards shall be sent to provisioning and logistics (P&L) unit on the fortnightly basis for proper monitoring and cross-checking. "Supervisory officers of Motor Transport (MT) section of districts and units, randomly check records at the CNG stations as well as monitor the CCTV footage to find out misuse of IGL smart cards. The drivers of the vehicle should be responsible to collect the e-transactions slip from the IGL staff, after refilling the CNG and must deposit the same to their respective MT section daily," sources said quoting circular content. Adding further, sources said that surprise checking teams from each district and units shall be constituted to check the IGL stations at regular intervals. Incharge (I/C) of MTs of districts and units may also be sensitised in this regard. "If any district or units lost their IGL smart card, the concerned I/C MTs should be responsible to block such card immediately on IGL customer care under intimation to P&L," reads circular. "Meticulous compliance of the directions may be ensured by districts and units. Any instance noticed for misuse of IGL smart card will be viewed seriously," wrote a senior officer in the circular.
