To contest Panchayat election two persons duped student of Rs 4 65 lakh

The accused wanted money to contest Panchayat election for which they needed money. The complainant in the case Sultan saw an advertisement for Fortuner car on an online retail website. According to police after finalising the deal, the complainant paid Rs 2,15,000 in cash and Rs 2,50,000 through bank transfer. The Fortuner car registered in the name of Mehtab's uncle was also seized. In the meanwhile, Mehtab's uncle told them that he wants to sell his Fortuner car and also asked them for a suitable buyer.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two persons involved in cheating of more than four lakh rupees on the pretext of selling SUV through an online retail website. The accused wanted money to contest Panchayat election for which they needed money. Police identified the accused as Mehtab (35) and Akib (35). They were arrested from Meerut area. The complainant in the case Sultan saw an advertisement for Fortuner car on an online retail website. He contacted the accused and negotiated the amount of the SUV to Rs 4,65,000 lakh. Later accused asked complainant to come to Ajmeri Gate. According to police after finalising the deal, the complainant paid Rs 2,15,000 in cash and Rs 2,50,000 through bank transfer. On asking about the delivery of the vehicle, seller Mehtab pretended the complainant that NOC of the vehicle would be received on the next day. Then, Mehtab took the complainant and his brothers to a hotel in Pahar Ganj area. However, in the early morning of October 4, while the complainant and his brothers were sleeping, the seller and his friend along with car escaped from the hotel. A case was registered and a team under ACP (Kamla Market) Amit Kaushik led by Inspector Sunil Kumar started their investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said that after investigation the accused were arrested on October 6 from their houses in Meerut. The Fortuner car registered in the name of Mehtabs uncle was also seized. "They were engaged in agriculture work at Meerut, UP. They wish to contest the Panchayat Elections for which they need plenty of money but their income from agriculture was not sufficient," said DCP Central. The accused were searching for easy money. In the meanwhile, Mehtabs uncle told them that he wants to sell his Fortuner car and also asked them for a suitable buyer. They took it as an opportunity to earn a hefty amount to contest the elections.
