DU s libraries labs shut as staff sits on protest demanding pending promotions

New Delhi: Many libraries and labs are shut in different colleges of Delhi University as their staff sat on protest, Wednesday, demanding promotions that have been pending from the past 20-25 years.
Entering the 10th day of the protest, the staff sat outside the Art Faculty building demanding that Recruitment Rules (RR) be implemented.
In 2018, a Comprehensive Committee that consisted of professors from the university made a Draft University of Delhi (Non-Teaching) Recruitment Rules (RR).
According to RR, staff that has been working for a long time, be given promotion, after considering their qualifications.
Speaking to the Millennium Post SanjaySingh President of Delhi University Library Association said, "No promotions have taken place for the staff associated with library and labs in DU from the past 20-25 years.
