Delhi Prisons organises camp for inmates with amputated arms

New Delhi: Prisoners at Tihar Jail on Monday were given free artificial arms, after a camp examined those who had amputated arms. Delhi Prisons in collaboration with the Center for Empowerment and Initiative (CEI) conducted a camp for amputee prisoners at the Jail. "Seven inmates lodged in Tihar Jail had amputated arms, however, two out of them were found to be amputated upto elbow level, who could be given artificial hand using Jaipur foot technology," said a statement by the prison headquarters (Tihar). After approval from prisoners, the two were given the artificial arms by CEI. "The initiative helped restore the dignity of the affected individuals by empowering them with independence through mobility," said the statement.
