New Delhi: Even after agencies have taken stringent action plans to curb air pollution in Delhi, many are still underlying, with no implementation regarding it. Parking fees in Delhi-NCR are yet to be increased, even though it was said that the decision is implemented from Tuesday. Officials at South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) told Millennium Post that they havent received any orders to implement such thing as of now. "We havent taken any such decision. We are working on some parking plan but no decision to hike the parking fees have been taken," said the official. However, last year, the plan was implemented with parking rates increasing from Rs 20 per hour to Rs 50 per hour. "We havent received any notice in increase of parking rates," said a parking worker at Cannaught Place. Similar statements were told in parking areas of Dwarka, Cannaught Place and ITO. "Last year, the rates had increased to Rs. 50 per hour," said a parking worker associated with Sai parking. However, few areas in the middle circle witnessed an increase in rates. The rate to park cars in middle circle was Rs 50 per hour. "This has nothing to do with air pollution though," said a parking working there, who added that the decision has been taken to curb on street parking. Starting Tuesday, strict pollution control measures, including a ban on the use of diesel generator sets, were imposed across Delhi and NCR towns to fight pollution. With Diwali just around the corner, the problem of air pollution will go from bad to worse with air quality already slipping to poor quality. The measures comes under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and includes a set of guidelines that needs to be followed when air quality deteriorates.
