New Delhi: The rape case of homeless girl near IP park in Sarai Kale Khan area was solved after a person was arrested from South East Delhi. Police said that the identity of both the accused established after verification of more than 4,000 vagabonds in the city. Police identified the accused as Abdul Khalid. He was a school dropout from reputed school (EWS Category) in Mathura Road. On September 16, the victim, a resident of Goa, had come to Sarai Kale Khan. She decided to stay at the bus stand for the whole night as she was not having any shelter in Delhi. At 12 am in the night, she was sleeping at IP park bus stand Ring Road, two men came near her and forcibly committed the offence. "She had suffered injuries and somehow, managed to escape from there as one passerby stopped his motorcycle near the bus stand on hearing her shouting. Both the accused persons manage to escape from the place of occurrence," police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-east) Chinmoy Biswal said that they were physically verifying the vagabond persons, beggars, drug addicts and suspicious persons of the locality of Delhi as well as in NCR. On October 16 , Abdul Khalid was nabbed. His associate Munna is still absconding. The accused told police that on September 16, both the accused were under influence of alcohol and they found the victim alone. They forcibly took her behind the bushes near IP park bus stand. When the victim opposed their act, they also assaulted her. "To fulfil his daily needs of intoxicants he along with his friend Munna started begging and rag picking and iron from roads to sell them to scrap dealer," said DCP Biswal.
