New Delhi: With the Delhi Assembly elections set to be announced for early next year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is seeing a huge pro-incumbency feel in the Capital, adding that his party would lead the race by setting poll agendas on issues of schools, hospitals, water, dengue, pollution and CCTV among other developmental works. The Chief Minister tweeted in the afternoon, saying that important poll issues will take centre stage this time around, calling it a good sign for democracy. "Delhi elections will take place on the issues of schools, hospitals, elect, water, dengue, pollution, CCTV etc. Good signs for Indian democracy. Huge pro-incumbency in AAPs favour," he said. The ruling AAP, which currently holds a massive super-majority in the Assembly with 67 out of 70 seats, claimed that in the next elections, they are set to sweep the Capital by winning all the seats. The Kejriwal governments tenure is set to end by the end of February next year, with the Election Commission having the authority to call for polls anytime in the six months before the tenure ends. While the AAPs hopes of fighting the Delhi elections on grounds of "developmental work" done under the chief minister holds water, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to continue with the huge support they received in the Lok Sabha polls this year in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the BJP yet to announce a Chief Ministerial candidate for the polls here, the AAP is likely to draw some advantage from this by hitting the ground and connecting with voters and the grassroots-level. However, the saffron party does have a history of playing it close to the line when it comes to announcing candidates for elections, which was seen even when it came to announcing Lok Sabha candidates for Delhi in 2019. The campaign in the city is also expected to take interesting turns as Kejriwal has announced his poll plank to be of development work done by his government. The saffron party is expected to quite easily fight that campaign move by sticking to development work done by the Central government in the last five years. Moreover, campaign stars such as Haryanvi singer, Sapna Chaudhary, might also add to the twists and turns as she was caught campaigning for a Congress candidate in Haryana just recently. In fact, just six months ago, Chaudhary had recorded locally popular campaign songs for Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwaris campaign trail and also South Delhi MP, Ramesh Bidhuris campaign.
