New Delhi: In a major bid to clear and remove construction and demolition waste (C&D) in the city, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday inspected 727 sites and issued 669 challans to violators, amounting to a whopping Rs 7.7 lakh, the municipality said in statement, with officials saying that environmental prosecution could be in store for entities that dump such waste illegally. SDMC officials here said that the municipality is currently looking to write to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee to prosecute violators under the Environment Protection Act. The SDMC said that challans were issued on Monday across all four of its zones for burning waste, rubber, plastic and unauthorised construction activities, including illegal dumping of C&D waste. In Central Zone around 110.5 cubic ton C&D Waste removed with the help of 23 trucks. The major roads cleared in Central Zone are Defence colony service road, Mathura road, Ravi Das Marg, Ansari road, Road No.13 Near Sarita Vihar foot over bridge and others. In South Zone around 250.5 cubic ton is removed with the help of 46 tempos and 12 trollies. The major roads cleared are Shri Harsukh Marg, Shahpur Jat Phirni Marg, Church Road, Ayappa Temple Marg, SSN Marg, Outer Ring Road, Press Enclave Road and others. In the Najafgarh zone around 95.5 cubic ton C&D waste removed with the help of 13 trucks. The major roads cleared are Khaira, Ghummanhera Road, Palam Health Center Road, Main Sagarpur Road, Dabri Mod Road, New Anaj Mandi Road and others. In West Zone around 140 cubic ton C&D Waste removed with the help of 12 trucks. The major roads cleared are Rajulal Marg, Shamshan Ghar Road Subhash Nagar, Pashchimpuri Road and others.
