Relief for household industrial units as DDA OKs amendments in Master Plan

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Friday informed that Delhi Development Authority( DDA) has given green signal to major amendments providing relief to household industrial units in residential areas. According to an estimate, thousands of household industrial units are running in residential areas giving employment to lakhs of people. It will strengthen and promote industrial units in residential areas. He further said that no polluting industrial units shall be permitted as household industry as before. These Units now would be allowed to continue in residential areas and new industrial units of this type will be permitted in residential areas on the same terms and conditions.

It will be applicable to both existing and new units. "It is keeping in with the Prime Ministers Policy of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB). The approved amendments would lead to cut red-tapism as they would do away with statutory clearances from Labour and Industries Department as well as Delhi Pollution Control Committee to household industrial units in residential areas," Gupta said. According to an estimate, thousands of household industrial units are running in residential areas giving employment to lakhs of people. Vijender Gupta furher said that it is a major step in implementation of Prime Ministers policy of "Ease of Business. It will strengthen and promote industrial units in residential areas. He further said that no polluting industrial units shall be permitted as household industry as before. The DDA had sought suggestions and objections on this important notification on September 3, this year. After receiving feedback from public after completion of 45 days, the DDAs Board of Inquiry and Hearing gave public hearing. It subsequently gave green signal to the proposal. The amendments are likely to be now incorporated in DDAs Master Plan. The main condition that no polluting unit shall be permitted remains unchanged. Gupta said that the existing provision requiring "statutory clearances from Labour and Industrial Departments and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC)" has been amended as dropped for household industrial units with maximum nine workers and 11 KW power. These Units now would be allowed to continue in residential areas and new industrial units of this type will be permitted in residential areas on the same terms and conditions. However, the proposed modifications have stipulated that "no polluting industrial unit shall be permitted as household industry".
