New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said his government will offer free pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistans Kartarpur under its flagship Mukhyamantri Tirath Yatra Yojana. Kejriwal made the announcement while offering respects to Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib here on his 550th birth anniversary. "Guru Nanak Dev ji showed everyone the path of humanity. He didnt differentiate between people belonging to different religions. He always taught people to pursue the path of truth and serve the poor," the chief minister said. "We are trying to walk on that path. Now, the Kartarpur Corridor has been opened. The Delhi government will make all arrangements (Mukhyamantri Tirath Yatra Yojana) for senior citizens willing to go on a pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan," he said. The historic corridor — which links Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Punjabs Gurdaspur — was thrown open on November 9. Under its fully-funded scheme launched in July, the AAP government is currently sending senior citizens on pilgrimage to 12 destinations. Meanwhile, people from different faiths offered early morning prayers at the shrines that were decked with bright lights and flowers and also took part in langars and shabad kirtans. A number of programmes were organised on the occasion. Volunteers also set up a free health checkup kiosk and some stalls having spiritual books in the premises of the Gururdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. A number of stalls serving a variety of foods, ranging from chholey bhaturas to gulab jamuns, were set up outside the gurdwara as well. Candies and chocolates were also given to devotees entering and leaving the premises of Gurudwarb Rakab Ganj Sahib and Bangla Sahib Gurudwara here. Several political leaders visited the Sikh shrines across the city. The Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. In a tweet he said, "At the Banglasahib Gurdwara on the great day of Guruparva, we prayed and prayed that all the people of Delhi, all the countrymen and all the people of the earth remain the pride of the Guru. Whether we are from any religion, caste, country or province, we all remain one."
