Ghaziabad police foils ATM robbery arrests four

Ghaziabad: Following a gunbattle, the Ghaziabad police have nabbed four criminals who were trying to rob an ATM in Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Cops said that the accused persons had almost broke open the ATM machine and were trying to take out cash when police intercepted them. According to police, the arrested accused persons have been identified as Govinda, Rohit, Ajay Riyal and Vikas, all residents of Netaji Subash Chandra Palace in New Delhi. "The accused persons opened fire on police party and tried to run away. Police have recovered three .315 bore country made pistols along with a few live cases of ammunition and tools that were being used to break the ATM machine.

"Three out of the arrested four criminals sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight and they have been admitted to hospital for treatment," said police. Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, superintendent of police (rural), Ghaziabad said that police had received a call from Mumbai police control room informing police about the robbery attempt. "A call was received from Mumbai Police control room around 1:25 am on Sunday that few miscreants were trying to rob an ATM of Axis bank Situated at railway road. A team from Muradnagar police station immediately rushed to the spot and intercepted four robbers around 1:40 am when they were trying to break the ATM machine" said Jadaun. "The accused persons opened fire on police party and tried to run away. Police had to retaliate and three out of the four criminals identified as Govinda, Rohit, Ajay Riyal received bullet injuries in leg. The injured were admitted to a hospital for treatment and their condition is stable. We are looking into their criminal history and are trying to find out their involvement in other incidents of robbery and theft," added Jadaun. Police have recovered three .315 bore country made pistols along with a few live cases of ammunition and tools that were being used to break the ATM machine.
