Diesel autos to be phased off in Ggm from next year

Gurugram: Diesel autos to be phased off in Gurugram from next year. Large movement of diesel autos is one of the main factors towards the deterioration of air quality in Gurugram. It is estimated that there are 10,000 diesel autos that are plying in the city. In order to tackle this issue more than 500 e-rickshaws were introduced so that they can be a viable alternative to the diesel autos. Speaking on the harmful effects of Gurugram's air caused by the shared diesel autos, a senior official from the Haryana Pollution state control board said, "There have been a lot of complaints with regards to the pollution that is been caused by the shared diesel autos.

Gurugram: Diesel autos to be phased off in Gurugram from next year. The deadline set for the removal has been set for January 2020. Recently Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a meeting with senior public officials wherein he discussed the ways by which the diesel autos can be phased off from the city. Large movement of diesel autos is one of the main factors towards the deterioration of air quality in Gurugram. It is estimated that there are 10,000 diesel autos that are plying in the city. While the district administration has been successful in converting some of the diesel autos into CNG ones there are still a substantial number of vehicles that are running on the low-quality fuel. In order to tackle this issue more than 500 e-rickshaws were introduced so that they can be a viable alternative to the diesel autos. Most of these autos that run on electronic batteries still, ply in areas around Sikanderpur and DLF Cybercity. Irked by the rising levels of pollution in their neighbourhood many professionals and residents are demanding that this form of transportation must be extended at least in the industrial areas. Lakhs of workers are employed in various industrial units in Gurugram and most of these workers still rely on diesel autos for their modes of transportation. Speaking on the harmful effects of Gurugrams air caused by the shared diesel autos, a senior official from the Haryana Pollution state control board said, "There have been a lot of complaints with regards to the pollution that is been caused by the shared diesel autos. A major the reason it has that most of these autos are extremely old, poorly maintained and use low-quality fuel as a means of cutting their cost."
