Gangster Ashok Rathi continued his criminal activities even being in jail

Gurugram: One of the most feared gangsters in Gurugram Ashok Rathi met a bloody end when he was gunned down allegedly by his own henchmen during an argument in his house in Sohna on Saturday. Aged just 45, Rathi was out on bail in one of the many criminal cases he was charged under several criminal cases. It is also believed by law enforcement officials that there are chances that he may have been bumped off by one of his rivals which have led may law enforcement officials to fear the the revival of gang-war in Gurugram To get a sense of how feared Rathi was when he was alive was the fact that there were 37 registered cases filed against him ranging from burglaries, extortion, land grab to murders. Moreover, his criminal activities and reign of fear continued even when he was lodged in jail. Among one of such brutal crimes in which he was allegedly involved while in jail was hiring the contract killers to gun down his own wife Sushma Rathi. Rathi apparently contracted killers from Mewat to undertake the killing. On July 2016, 32-year-old Sushma Rathi was gunned down at Sohna Road while returning after leaving 10-year-old daughter to school. There were also reports that his name was also involved in the extortion case of Rs 50 lakh from one of the well-renowned bakers in the city. The other being his brutal murder of his mother-in-law and brother -law die to a property dispute. His activities in the past suggested that serving jail sentences was not new to him. There was also an instance where he escaped from a prison in Uttar Pradesh after he made a constable consume a sedative and got him intoxicated. Rathi began his foray in criminal activities at a young age of 20. Initially he was involved in small-time criminal activities of snatching and looting.
