Two held for cloning debit and credit cards in Dwarka

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested two persons from Dwarka who were involved in cheating public by cloning their debit and credit cards. The accused have withdrawn money from over 500 cloned cards in the last three months and cheated more than Rs 25 lakhs. DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that in August 2019, the accused stationed the cloning machine in a rented spa center in Dwarka Sec-10. Two-three customers used to pay for services through their debit and credit cards. The duo, then swap the ATM cards of innocent people for payment and asked them to insert their PIN number.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested two persons from Dwarka who were involved in cheating public by cloning their debit and credit cards. The accused have withdrawn money from over 500 cloned cards in the last three months and cheated more than Rs 25 lakhs. Police identified the accused as Rajesh Sharma and Shamsher. During interrogation, Rajesh Sharma disclosed that he has completed BSc from a reputed college of Delhi University. Shamsher gained knowledge of cloning devices and its software through YouTube and came into the contact with one Paul Logan of Jamaica through social media app who provided software for the functioning of the Verifone POS machine. DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that in August 2019, the accused stationed the cloning machine in a rented spa center in Dwarka Sec-10. Two-three customers used to pay for services through their debit and credit cards. The duo, then swap the ATM cards of innocent people for payment and asked them to insert their PIN number. As soon as the customer enters his PIN, the machine stored the data. "The accused then used to say to the customers that the machine is not working and asked him to pay in cash or get the payment from genuine swapping machines," police said.
