Robbers kidnap cash van s gunman driver flees with Rs 1 5 crore

New Delhi: A cash van carrying more than Rs 1.5 crore money was robbed of by unidentified armed assailants in Delhi's Dwarka Sector-1 on Thursday afternoon, the police said. According to the gunman and the driver, the assailants first kidnapped them at gunpoint, drove the van at an isolated place and then fled with cash. The gunman and driver of the cash van were found tied inside the van in injured condition later. However, the gunman and the driver were waiting for them inside the cash van just opposite the road. Few hours later, the cash van was recovered from Dwarka's Sector-11.

According to the gunman and the driver, the assailants first kidnapped them at gunpoint, drove the van at an isolated place and then fled with cash. However, cops are verifying their claims. The gunman and driver of the cash van were found tied inside the van in injured condition later. They have been admitted to a private hospital," the police said. According to police official, the officials of SIPL Company went to an ATM to fill cash in ATM in front of Manipal Hospital in Sector-1 at around 12:30 pm. However, the gunman and the driver were waiting for them inside the cash van just opposite the road. This has also given rise to suspicion that the van was parked on the opposite road. "When the custodians returned after filling the cash, they could not find the van, they first informed to the security official of their company who further informed the police," police said. "The van, carrying cash, was parked on main road just after crossing Sector 1 traffic signal. In between, two unidentified armed men, claim the gunman and driver entered into the van and took them at gun point and drove the van at an isolated place," said a police official. Few hours later, the cash van was recovered from Dwarkas Sector-11. Police team immediately rushed at the spot where duo gunman and the driver were found tied. The assailants had also beaten them up as duo have received injuries on their body. However, police are verifying the claims made by the driver and the gunman and their role in the incident. CCTV footage of the area is also bering scanned to know what actually happened.
