2 senior cops of Ggm meet slum kids give them tips on becoming IPS officer

Gurugram: A softer, humane and friendlier approach of Gurugram police was on display on Tuesday as two senior police officials met and interacted with 120 slum children in the city. The officials that included Pankhuri Singh and Ashok both officers of ACP rank shared their experiences with the children on how to become the IPS official. Earlier this year a program on communication was conducted for the Station House Officers in the city. The main objective of this training was to improve the soft skills that will be reflected in their etiquette. The friendly side of Gurugram traffic police has also been witnessed several times with law enforcement officials adopting several unique ways to penalise the offenders.

The officials that included Pankhuri Singh and Ashok both officers of ACP rank shared their experiences with the children on how to become the IPS official. Answering the question of 13-year-old Muskaan who dreams of joining the police Inspector Pankhuri said, " Not only is it important for you to study but also equally significant to make yourself physically fit so that if required you can get selected in the police through the sports quota." Responding to the query of 14-year-old Aslam of the sacrifices being made in the line of duty Inspector Pankhuri said, " It is your perspective of of how you look at things, if you enjoy your job then each day is a new challenge than a sacrifice." Often being in controversies because of their handling of complaints and the torture meted out to the accused, the Gurugram police plan to carry out more such exercises in the future. In some of the early initiatives the Gurugram police also began the awareness sessions on POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual offences) for school students. These sessions are carried out by women police officers of Gurugram police along with the practicing lawyers to help children of standards VIII and IX and make them aware of the good and the bad touch. Earlier this year a program on communication was conducted for the Station House Officers in the city. The main objective of this training was to improve the soft skills that will be reflected in their etiquette. The friendly side of Gurugram traffic police has also been witnessed several times with law enforcement officials adopting several unique ways to penalise the offenders. There are also plans to introduce the friendly cabins in the 16 police stations in Gurugram wherein the police officers who will be in the civilian clothes will provide 16 non-police services that mainly relates to verification and registration procedures.
