Second major scam in a week 5 RTO officials in Gurugram get suspension on corruption charges

Gurugram: Two days after the Haryana Lokayukta unearthed the nexus between top bureaucrats and builders, now a case of corruption has been reported from the Regional Transport Office, Gurugram. In the letter, it has also been alleged that fake licenses are also being made for most of the persons. After the revelation, five officers starting from assistant secretary levels to transport officers have been suspended. It has also been directed that all the evidence regarding the case should be submitted within a week. The matter follows just days after theThe Haryana Lokayukta had submitted a scathing report to the Haryana government wherein it has pointed out major irregularities between top public officials and builders of Malibu Towne township.

Gurugram: Two days after the Haryana Lokayukta unearthed the nexus between top bureaucrats and builders, now a case of corruption has been reported from the Regional Transport Office, Gurugram. Citing that a large number of officials are involved in taking bribes and not renewing the licenses, assistant secretary Prabhjot Singh had written a letter to his senior officer. In the letter, it has also been alleged that fake licenses are also being made for most of the persons. After the revelation, five officers starting from assistant secretary levels to transport officers have been suspended. It has also been directed that all the evidence regarding the case should be submitted within a week. It is important to note that matters of corruption have been leveled against the officers for long but this is one of the rare occasions when a senior official has sought an action against the officials. The matter follows just days after the The Haryana Lokayukta had submitted a scathing report to the Haryana government wherein it has pointed out major irregularities between top public officials and builders of Malibu Towne township. Being severely critical on the builder the Haryana Lokayukta has mentioned that the builders have not adhered to any standards as committed and in effect caused losses to the residents and the state exchequer. At least 11 public officials that also include officers of IAS rank have been blamed for issuing licenses to the builders irrespective of it not following the rules. These officers belong to the department of town planning, electricity board, and state enforcement department.
