Night shelter workers continue to provide relief

In Delhi's Dwarka Sector-3, caretakers at a women's night shelter have been coming for work to provide food and other essentials for the people taking shelter here. The night shelter has a capacity of having more than 100 people and is inclusive to ration and food. Rekha, who works as a cleaner has been living in the night shelter. The night shelter is provided with food two times a day. I have to also make a list as to how many people need the food, according to which food is provided," she said.

NEW DELHI: With the whole country in a lockdown for 21-days amid the Corona crisis many people are working relentlessly fighting all odds. In Delhis Dwarka Sector-3, caretakers at a womens night shelter have been coming for work to provide food and other essentials for the people taking shelter here. Dimple, is a caretaker in a raen basera in Dwarkas Sector-3, and who along with a few others have been taking care of the homeless people during the Coronavirus crisis. "This is our duty and we have to work. When everyone is inside, there are so many who dont have the luxury to do so. By providing some essentials to these people, we are just doing our job," she told the correspondent. The night shelter has a capacity of having more than 100 people and is inclusive to ration and food. Rekha, who works as a cleaner has been living in the night shelter. "I havent been able to work since the lockdown. In such a situation this place is nothing less than a rescue house," she said. The night shelter is provided with food two times a day. As the area mostly includes daily wage labourers and their families, cooked food is provided to them as well. "I have to coordinate with the people coming over regarding food and other essentials. I have to also make a list as to how many people need the food, according to which food is provided," she said.
