In certain areas like Rajiv Chowk and Sushant Lok recycling centres, the waste is also being treated before it is sent to Bandhwari landfill site situated along the Gurugram-Faridabad road. "These are difficult times for us and we have told out workers to make sure that they cover their face with masks and keep distance. We have deliberately reduced the number of workers to make sure that they are protected from this deadly disease, "said a senior official from Municipal Corporation of Gurugram. Mentioning the difficult situation in which they are working Rajesh, a worker said: "I am wearing a cloth mask and making sure that I maintain distance. I have been told by my senior that if I show any symptoms of fever, cough or cold, I must not hide it and inform immediately." However, there are complaints from the private colonies that many contractual workers are not collecting the garbage. There are also reports that most of the residential societies are not allowing the workers to enter their complex and are dumping the garbage outside. The challenge of waste management in Gurugram can be gauged from the fact that in two years daily production of garbage has increased from 700 tonnes to 1200 tonnes.
