New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has stepped in to resolve the Rajasthan political crisis. In a last-ditch attempt to woo him back, Rahul Gandhi has conveyed a message to Sachin Pilot that he is a member of the party and doors are always open for him. Rahul Gandhi`s message comes a day after Rajasthan Congress Legislative Party sacked Sachin Pilot from the posts of the state party president and deputy chief minister for allegedly attempting to topple the Ashok Gehlot government.

There has been a wedge between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot ever since the former was appointed as the chief minister after the 2018 assembly elections. Several people loyal to Sachin Pilot felt that he deserved to be the CM as he had been responsible for the party`s victory in the state. The differences came to fore after Sachin Pilot was served with a notice last Friday over his alleged bid to bring down the government. The same notice was sent to the chief minister and some other MLAs, but Sachin Pilot’s supporters claimed that it was only meant to humiliate him.

Since then, Sachin Pilot has maintained his distance from the Gehlot camp. He has refused to attend the CLP meets and has not paid any heed to pleas made by several senior Congress leaders like Randeep Surjewala and KC Venugopal. One of the key issues raised by the Pilot camp was that neither Sonia Gandhi nor Rahul Gandhi had reached out to Pilot to sort out the issue even as Surjewala claimed that the Congress top brass was ready to hear him out. Putting an end to that complaint, Rahul Gandhi stepped in on Wednesday evening to woo Sachin pilot back.

As per sources, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has also been told to rein his horse and refrain from making any public statement on the issue. Sources have said that the party high command is not very happy with Ashok Gehlot as he has been making public statements against Sachin Pilot.
