India’s retail inflation for July rises 6.93% as food prices climb nearly 10%

New Delhi: India’s consumer prices rose in July on the back of higher costs for a range of products, especially food items, as well as services, a sign of inflation firming up, as supply lines remained disruptions due to partial lockdowns in many states to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

New Delhi: India’s consumer prices rose in July on the back of higher costs for a range of products, especially food items, as well as services, a sign of inflation firming up, as supply lines remained disruptions due to partial lockdowns in many states to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

The consumer price index in July rose 6.9%, while food items became nearly 10% costlier, data from the ministry of statistics showed Thursday.
