The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), on Friday, extended the last date for registration to its undergraduate and postgraduate courses to October 3. Students can also register from October 4 to October 9 by paying a late fee.

The university had earlier extended the last date for registration till September 22, and till September 30 with a late fee.

AMU will be holding entrance exams for admissions to its undergraduate courses from November 1 to November 10.

The AMU notification follows the latest guidelines released by the University Grants Commission(UGC) which has instructed universities to “conduct all merit based examinations by the end of October”.

UGC guidelines also asked universities to fill up vacant seats by November 30.

The earlier guidelines, released by UGC in April, required universities to begin the academic session by September.

The commission was forced to push back the dates due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the country.
