The Delhi Cabinet has approved the proposal to increase the salary and allowances of the MLAs on Tuesday, according to which the MLAs will get a basic salary of 30 thousand rupees per month, whereas at present, the MLAs of Delhi will get salary per month Rs 12 thousand.

According to the resolution passed by the Delhi cabinet on Tuesday, the MLAs will get a total of 90 thousand rupees per month including salary and other allowances.

Whereas at present, the salary and allowance of Delhi MLAs (Delhi MLAs Salary Hike) together is Rs 54 thousand per month.

New proposed salary and allowances of MLAs
1. Basic Pay- Rs.30,000
2. Constituency Allowance – Rs 25,000
3. Secretariat Allowance- Rs.15,000
4. Conveyance Allowance- Rs.10,000
5. Telephone - Rs 10,000

The salary of MLAs is the lowest in Delhi

Sources in the Delhi government say that Delhi is still one of those states, which gives the lowest salary and allowances to its MLAs. Many states ruled by the BJP, Congress and regional parties provide very high salaries to their legislators, while the cost of living in Delhi is much higher than in most parts of India.

Apart from this, many states provide many other facilities and allowances to their MLAs, which the Delhi government does not provide. Like- House rent allowance, office rent and expenses of employees, allowance for buying office equipment, vehicle for use, driver allowance etc. Delhi government does not give to MLAs.
