Delhi is in disarray before farmers' Parliament march, gates of two metro stations closed, jam on many roads

Police say that in view of Covid, the march is not allowed. Section 144 has been imposed in New Delhi.

One year has passed since the new agricultural laws were passed. Farmers are standing on the borders of the capital, today `Black Day` is also being celebrated. A march to the Parliament is also proposed under the leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

However, the Delhi Police has closed the roads by barricading at many places. Police say that in view of Covid, the march is not allowed. Section 144 has been imposed in New Delhi. The SAD has termed the police action as an `undeclared emergency`.

The effect of closure of many routes has started showing. There is a severe jam on NH-9 and NH-24. There is also a long queue of vehicles on Yamuna Bridge Vikas Marg.

Traffic going from Round about Pusa towards Shankar Road has been diverted towards Pusa Road.


Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed the entry and exit gates of Pandit Shriram Sharma and Bahadurgarh City Metro stations.

Which roads of Delhi were affected?

According to the information given by Delhi Traffic Police:

• The road from Sardar Patel Marg to Dhaula Kuan has been closed for traffic due to farmers` agitation.
• Traffic coming from Gurugram to Sardar Patel Marg and from Narayan to Loop has also been diverted towards Ring Road Moti Bagh.
• Traffic will be heavy on Gurdwara Rakabganj Road, RML Hospital, GPO, Ashoka Road, Baba Kharag Singh Marg due to farmers` agitation.
• Both the roads of Jhadoda Kalan border have been closed by putting up barricades.
Harsimrat said, undeclared emergency
The SAD alleges that the borders of Delhi are being sealed by encircling the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, from where this march is to begin. Party leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal has also tweeted a video.

What did Delhi Police say?

In a statement, the police said, `The march of Shiromani Akali Dal from Gurdwara Rakabganj to Parliament, which is to be held today, is not allowed under the current guidelines to prevent the spread of Kovid virus. Section 144 has been imposed in New Delhi district.
