The problem of waterlogging in outer Delhi`s Mundka village for the last several months has put an end to the patience of the people.
Distressed villagers gathered in large numbers on Monday morning to announce an indefinite sit-in on the national highway leading to the Tikri border near Mundka metro station. At present, a large number of villagers are sitting on the streets and protesting.
Due to this, there has been a jam of about 15 km on the Rohtak road located on the Delhi-Haryana National Highway.
At present, the local administration is present there and there is a demand to end the strike. It is being told that women are also present in the protest and they say that they will not move from here without solving the problem.
At the same time, in view of the heavy jam, the Delhi Traffic Police has started diverting the traffic by closing the road on both the sides. However, there is no hope of getting any relief from the jam.
Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police has tweeted- `Traffic on both sides has been closed due to the demonstration below Mundka Metro Station. Traffic has been diverted from Nangloi water tank towards Najafgarh and from Ghevra More towards Kanjhawala.`
Villagers troubled by waterlogging are protesting under the leadership of Azad Singh, brother of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma and former mayor. According to people, the bad roads have added to the troubles of the villagers. It has become difficult for people to even walk. The officer is not ready to look into their problem.
It is being told that the protesters only want assurance from Arvind Kejriwal. On the other hand, if the Delhi Police is to be believed, then the people of Delhi and Haryana will have to face a lot of trouble if the sit-in demonstration is prolonged.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the traffic on both the sides has been closed due to the protest under the Mundka metro station on Monday. Due to the protest, the traffic has been diverted from Nangloi water tank towards Najafgarh and from Ghevra turn towards Kanjhawala. In such a situation, there is an appeal to the people to avoid the jammed roads.
