Negotiations are on to build the country's first electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur, know how it will work

The Union Minister said that it is my dream to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur. It is still a proposed project. We are discussing with a foreign company.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is doing something new to improve the country`s highways. Recently he visited the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway by road. Now his ministry is in talks with a foreign company to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur.

The Union Minister said that it is my dream to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur. It is still a proposed project. We are discussing with a foreign company.

While reviewing the progress of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa, Rajasthan, Gadkari said that buses and trucks will also be run on electricity like electric railway engines. He said that as a transport minister, he has resolved to eliminate the use of petrol and diesel in the country.

Countries around the world are adopting the option of electric vehicles to reduce their dependence on oil. Gadkari said that apart from electric vehicles, buses, trucks and railway engines can also be run on electricity. It is claimed that after the introduction of electric highway, the travel of passengers will be reduced by 4-5 hours.

After the introduction of electric highway, trucks and buses will run on electricity. On this highway, trucks and buses will run through the electric wire mounted above like a metro. It is specially designed keeping in mind the environment.

Gadkari reviewed the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is expected to complete the journey between the national capital and the financial capital by road in 12 hours instead of 24 hours. This eight-lane expressway will pass through Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Nitin Gadkari has said in an interview to PTI that after the commencement of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the central government will earn Rs 1,000 to 1,500 crores (toll revenues) every month. He said that this expressway is expected to be started by the year 2023.
