In a sincere and successful social service initiative, “RailTel- Akansha Super 30” project at Dehradun for the benefit of underprivileged students belonging to the state of Uttarakhand. This is one of the Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) activities undertaken by RailTel. Since the beginning of the project in 2016 till 2021, the overall success rate of this project has been 94% which is an excellent achievement.  During this period, the project has transformed lives of 167 students pursuing engineering from IITs and various other reputed engineering colleges. The present session 2021-22 is the Seventh Batch of the project. In previous session 2020-21, results have been very good and 28 out of 30 students have cleared JEE Exam. After completing their engineering graduation, many students got placements in various companies of repute like L&T, TCS, IBM, etc.

The objective of “Akansha Super 30” Project is to transform the lives of underprivileged but talented students by strengthening their academic excellence through residential coaching, boarding & lodging and preparing them for IIT/JEE, the most prestigious examination for aspiring engineers.    

Under the scheme, underprivileged students are selected from schools of various districts of Uttarakhand through fair and diligent process of written test and interview. The students are selected based on marks in exam, their financial status and following govt. norms. Selected 30 students are kept in a residential premises in Dehradun, Uttarakhand and are provided free residential stay, food, medical care, coaching, guidance, etc. The residential premises is designed to solicit undivided attention, maximum cooperation, healthy competition, and team work among faculties, staff and students. The duration of the program is generally 11 months or till the final exam for engineering entrance is held.

The unique features of the project include Smart classroom, Personalized Computer lab, highly experienced faculty members, specially designed pattern proof study materials, Periodic tests, well-designed academic modules, personalized attention on each students by Academic Officer, Secure and safe stay for girls.

RailTel is implementing this project with the help of Delhi-based NGO “Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL)”.

We have made CSR an integral part of our corporate strategy and implementing it in a systematic manner.  Besides Super 30 project, the company is also undertaking other CSR initiatives like Menstrual Health Management, Skill Development Centre, Mini Science Centres (MSC’s), Digital Learning Centre (DLC) etc. at different places in the country”.
