Rain turns Delhi weather pleasant; max temp drops to 25.3 degrees C

The weather on Saturday turned pleasant in Delhi after the National Capital received rain, resulting in a drop in the maximum temperature. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall recorded in the city during the past nine hours ending at 5:30 pm was 2.2 mm. Rainfall recorded in the city during the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 am was 2.0 mm. The spell of rain resulted in a dip in temperature as the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal. Earlier in the day, the IMD had predicted hailstorms over Delhi and adjoining areas, including Burari, Civil lines, Kashmiri Gate, DU and Noida. “Hail storm or precipitation would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of NCR(Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram) today”, said the weather department. “Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of North-East Delhi (Karawal Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri), NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula) Bhiwani, Farukhnagar (Haryana) Modinagar (UP),”  the weatherman said. It further said that the light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of Siwani, Charkhi Dadri (Haryana) Shamli, Kandhla, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Baraut, Daurala, Bagpat, Meerut, Khekra (UP). Some parts of Delhi and adjoining NCR had witnessed light rainfall on Saturday morning. For Sunday, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with very light rain and thunderstorm in the National Capital. It has further said that the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi would be around 27 and 17 degrees Celsius respectively.
