CBI will arrest me if BJP orders to: Kejriwal

“If BJP has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest him, then it will obviously follow their instructions,” Arvind Kejriwal said here on Saturday a day after he was summoned by the Central agency. The Delhi chief minister has been summoned by the Central probe agency for questioning in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam case. Addressing a press conference here, Kejriwal said, “Tomorrow, they (CBI) have called me and I will definitely go. If Arvind Kejriwal is corrupt, then there is no one in this world who is honest… If BJP has ordered CBI to arrest me, then CBI will obviously follow their instructions.” Later, charging the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials of “perjury and producing false evidence in courts”, Kejriwal tweeted, “We will file appropriate cases against CBI and ED officials for perjury and producing false evidence in courts.” “I have received summons from the CBI. I will certainly honour it. My press conference is on the same,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo added. Earlier in the press conference, Kejriwal also claimed he knew since the day he spoke against corruption in the Delhi Assembly that he would be next in line to be summoned by the CBI. He alleged, “Central agencies are lying to courts against us in the liquor policy probe. Arrested people are being tortured, pressure is being created on them to nail us.” He asserted, “The CBI has falsely accused Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. People were beaten to obtain false statements. The agencies are torturing people for evidence.” This, he euphemistically called a great policy to eradicate corruption. As for the arrest of AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and months of investigation, Kejriwal said these agencies have lied to the courts through affidavits when they falsely claimed that 14 phones were destroyed, tortured suspects to extract falsified confessions and employing thuggish threats. “Manish Sisodia is accused of destroying 14 of his phones. Now, ED is claiming that out of these, four phones are with them and CBI is saying that one phone is with them. If he had destroyed those phones, how then could they (the CBI and the ED) could get them? They are in fact lying to the courtsr,” Kejriwal concluded. The chief minister further said that the agencies have not found a single penny of the ill-gotten wealth that they claim was amassed from the so-called liquor scam. “When they found nothing in raids, they said the money had been funnelled into our Goa election campaign. Where is the proof of this? All our payments were made with cheques. Show me a single rupee of the Rs 100 crore you claim we got,” he said. “The same policy, which they call corrupt, was introduced in Punjab and has resulted in a 50 per cent increase in revenue. It was a game-changing and transparent policy,” he said. The CBI summoned Kejriwal to appear before the agency on April 16. AAP leaders said that Kejriwal will appear before the CBI for questioning. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a key aide of Kejriwal, is already in jail over alleged irregularities in the excise policy case. Sisodia was arrested by ED and CBI in the ongoing investigation of a case related to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy in Delhi.
