Centre stalled AAP Government doorstep ration delivery scheme in city, alleges Atishi

  • | Monday | 12th February, 2024

The BJP-led Centre has stalled the implementation of the AAP Governments doorstep ration delivery scheme, Delhi Minister  and senior AAP leader Atishi alleged on Sunday, appealing to people to vote for her party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls to fight for their rights in Parliament. Atishi said that if Delhiites also wanted door-to-door ration scheme to be brought in the national capital like Punjab, then vote for Aam Aadmi Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, so the party could take the voice of the city to the Parliament and can fight this battle. Addressing a press conference, the minister said that the Ghar Ghar Ration scheme was launched in Punjab on Saturday.  It was successfully launched in the state as there is no lieutenant governor there, Atishi, whose party is in power in Punjab and Delhi, said. However in Delhi, the scheme was passed by the Cabinet in 2018 and was notified in 2021 but it hasnt been implemented yet as the Centre, through its representative the lieutenant governor, has stalled its implementation, she said. Central government is scared of the success of the people-centric schemes implemented by the AAP government in Delhi and consistently attempts to hinder their implementation. One such scheme is Ghar Ghar Ration, through which the Delhi Government aimed to ensure home delivery of ration to the people of city. However, following the directions of the central government, Delhi Lieutenant Governor blocked the scheme and never let it get implemented, Atishi said. The Ghar Ghar Ration scheme of the Aam Aadmi Party government is akin to popular home delivery apps like Amazon, Flipkart, and Swiggy, providing a dignified and convenient way for people with ration cards to receive their complete ration at their doorstep, she said. Atishi added that every ration card holder faces many difficulties in procuring the 4 kg wheat, 1 kg atta, and 1 kg sugar allocated to them each month. When they go to collect their ration, the shop is often found closed, or there is a long queue outside. Even when they reach the shop, the shopkeeper misbehaves or claims the ration to be out of stock. It is common for ration card holders to receive incomplete rations. She said, We have all seen that when someone raises their voice against ration shop malpractices, they are attacked, and goons are unleashed upon them. Ration shops operate like mafias. To eliminate this dictatorship of ration shopkeepers, when the Aam Aadmi Party Government was formed in Delhi, we launched the scheme for home delivery of ration. The AAP leader continued, But the central government is never able to bear the success of any scheme by the Delhi government.  This scheme was launched by the Kejriwal Government in 2018 and notified in 2021. However, the Central Government and Delhi LG ensured that this scheme never came into practice. Despite our hard work and efforts, people are still forced to queue up outside ration shops and endure the misbehavior of shopkeepers.
