Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has announced a month-long anti-drug campaign across the city, which would include inspections at schools, colleges, hostels, pharmaceutical stores, paan shops, clubs, and bars, to combat the rising menace of drug abuse.  To ensure a drug-free campus environment, nodal officers will be designated and wardens will be made accountable in hostels of educational institutions, said officials from the LGs office. The key aim behind the drive is to dismantle drug networks, reduce demand, and create a healthier and safer society. The drive will also involve checking at railway stations, inter-state bus terminals (ISBTs) and other places. He directed the Delhi Police and other agencies to intensify their efforts to curb drug trafficking and consumption. Directions have been given to the city police and other stakeholder agencies to thoroughly check and sanitise at least 200 hostels, 50 colleges, 200 schools, 200 pharmaceutical stores, 500 pan shops, all shelter homes, 200 bars and restaurants, all railway stations, all ISBTs and other public spaces, it said.
