BJP 'star campaigners' stay away from MCD polls

They were hoping that the serving CMs will pull up their campaign, but to their disappointment, these star campaigners will not be coming," a party source said, adding that no public meeting or road show has been planned for any of the nine CMs whose names had earlier figured in the list of star campaigners. "But now, it has been decided that not a single CM will come to Delhi for campaigning for the civic polls," the source said. According to the party's plan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi and other CMs – Shivraj Singh Chauhan (Madhya Pradesh), Vasundhara Raje (Rajasthan), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), Raman Singh (Chattisgarh), Raghubar Das (Jharkhand), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), and Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra) – were to campaign in Congress-dominated constituencies. The list also included 13 Union Ministers, all Lok Sabha members from Delhi, actor Hema Malini, Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan, and other senior party leaders.Defending the development, a senior party leader said the decision had been taken by the top leadership.
