Men transporting buffaloes assaulted in Delhi

Three men transporting buffaloes were allegedly assaulted by animal rights activists in Kalkaji in Delhi on Saturday night, said the police. "Around 11:45 p.m. the call was made by one Gaurav Gupta, an animal activist & office bearer of PFA (People for Animal). SHO Kalkaji along with staff reached at spot, jam got cleared & injured were shifted to AIIMS trauma centre through PCR. Three injured occupants of the vehicle were found who were carrying buffaloes. Some of the members of PFA were also available at the spot, who left without giving any complaints.

The activists had sought police intervention in claiming that illegal transportation of cattle was taking place but did not submit any written complaint and instead chose to assault the victims Rizwan, Ashu and Kamil themselves. "Around 11:45 p.m. the call was made by one Gaurav Gupta, an animal activist & office bearer of PFA (People for Animal). Police Control Room van (PCR) as well as Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) reached at spot, where tempo Eicher above was standing on roadside," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Romil Baaniya. Three injured occupants of the vehicle were found who were carrying buffaloes. SHO Kalkaji along with staff reached at spot, jam got cleared & injured were shifted to AIIMS trauma centre through PCR. Some of the members of PFA were also available at the spot, who left without giving any complaints. According to the police, the vehicle carrying animals was also immediately shifted to Society For Prevention Of Cruelty To Animal 'Tis Hazari court where total 14 buffaloes were recovered from the vehicle. Animals as well as vehicle was deposited there. The police found that the animals were being transported to Ghazipur Mandi. The police did not comment on whether the cattle was legally transported and whether there was the cow vigilantism angle also involved.
