The police have arrested the driver. The accused said he was trying to save a beggar who was crossing the road and swerved to the left. He ended up taking the car over the pavement, said the official. The official said his claims were being verified. An eyewitness, Manoj Saxena said in the noon I was going towards a temple on my cycle when I saw a white car in a high speed climbed over the pavement and ran over people sleeping there. It seemed the driver was drunk and had lost control over the vehicle. The locals came to the rescue and called the police.
