Navratri 2017: Festival of Navratri begins with `Kalash Sthapna`

On the first day Goddess Shailputri is worshiped. Subsequently, Goddess Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Katyayani, Kalratri, Siddhidatri, Skandmata, Mahagauri are worshiped. The prominent story associated with Navratri is the battle that took place between goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura, who represents supreme ego and valor.

All the nine days are dedicated to each distinct avatar of the goddess; and each of these days has a significant rituals.
