Talwars released from Dasna Jail

Doctors Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, who were acquitted by the Allahabad High Court on October 12 of the murder of their daughter Aarushi Talwar and their domestic help Hemraj, were released from Dasna Jail on Monday. The couple carried their belongings in carry bags and refused to be paid by jail authorities the sum that they had earned for providing dental services to inmates. Dr. Talwar’s brother Dinesh was among the family members who came to receive the couple. They are expected to go to a local temple in Noida to offer prayers.

A tearful Rajesh and Nupur Talwar walked out of the district prison here on Monday evening. The couple was behind bars for the alleged murder of their daughter Aarushi, in the year 2008, for a little over 3 years and ten months. They were acquitted by the Allahabad High Court on October 12. The dentist couple, who were picked up by Mr. Talwar’s brother Dinesh around 5 pm, were crying as they clung to him before managing an exit as they waded through a frenzied media contingent under police protection. According to prison sources, the couple’s release order was delivered to the Dasna District Prison around 4.30 pm following which the other formalities related to their release such as the filling of a security bond were undertaken.
