CHANDIGARH: Senior Haryana IPS officer, Amitabh Singh Dhillon has been posted as Commissioner of Police (CP) Faridabad . The orders regarding his posting were issued on Monday evening by the state's home department. A 1997 batch IPS officer, Amitabh Dhillon was presently posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hisar range and handled one of the most crucial situation in his area during dera sacha sauda (DSS) violence that had erupted after conviction of dera chief in rape cases in August 2017.Dhillon has replaced Hamid Qureshi who has been posted as IGP, Security. In recognition of his impeccable service record, the Punjab and Haryana high court in August 2017, had appointed Dhillon as head of a special investigation team (SIT) to monitor the investigation of hundreds of criminal cases registered against the protesters for violence during February 2016 Jat stir for reservation in Haryana.Dhillon along with senior IAS officer V Umashankar was specially appointed in Sirsa to assist the local administration to control the volatile situation during dera violence.The entire exercise to sanitize the controversial dera sacha sauda in Sirsa was also carried out during Dhillon's tenure as IGP, Hisar range.Dhillon was also awarded the prestigious President's police medal for meritorious service in 2013. He has also served the central bureau of investigations from 2009 to 2017. In March last year, he was posted as IGP, Hisar.He had also served in Chandigarh on deputaion as SSP (traffic) and has been credited for bringing huge changes by implementing the laws related to traffic regulations in the city beautiful. Senior IPS officer, Sanjay Kumar has replaced Dhillon as IGP, Hisar range.
