Rescue girl in 6 weeks: HC

The police team also visited the red-light area of G B Road in Delhi to trace the girl, but to no avail.Laxmikant had last year also filed a petition in the court of Nalanda CJM, alleging police were acting in collusion with the accused. The same sim card was also used in the kidnapped girl’s cellphone on August 17, six days after her kidnapping.These facts were put up before a division bench of Justice Ravi Ranjan and Justice S Kumar by the Nalanda police through a counter affidavit.

PATNA: Apparently furious over the Nalanda police’s failure to rescue a 14-year-old girl kidnapped almost a year back, the Patna high court (HC) on Wednesday ordered police that the girl be rescued within six weeks at any cost.The minor resident of Katridih village under the Giriyak police station area in Nalanda district was taken to Katrisarai market by one Priya Devi on August 11, 2017 on the pretext of providing her a blouse. The girl never returned.The girl’s father, Laxmikant Prasad, lodged an FIR in the Giriyak police station the next day, accusing Priya of kidnapping his daughter. As police failed to trace the girl, her father moved the HC on March 21 this year.After analysing Priya’s call detail records, police nabbed one Bharat Singh from Khundi Kheda under the Bhawani Mandi police station area in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district as Priya’s sim card was used in Bharat’s cellphone on September 1, 2017. The same sim card was also used in the kidnapped girl’s cellphone on August 17, six days after her kidnapping.These facts were put up before a division bench of Justice Ravi Ranjan and Justice S Kumar by the Nalanda police through a counter affidavit. The court was, however, not satisfied.Nalanda SP Sudhir Kumar Podika was present before the court on Wednesday. Sources said a Nalanda police team went outstation for investigation into the case on May 11, 2018 only after the HC summoned the SP and other police officers concerned of the district to the court on May 7.A police team also went to Faridabad in Haryana last month for execution of a Nalanda court’s proclamation notice against another accused, Suraj Kumar, but he was found absconding. The police team also visited the red-light area of G B Road in Delhi to trace the girl, but to no avail.Laxmikant had last year also filed a petition in the court of Nalanda CJM, alleging police were acting in collusion with the accused.
