HC asks Centre to clarify on restricted zone around IAF ammunition depot

The Gurgaon administration has already initiated the process for removal of constructions within 300m restricted zone around the ammunition depot.
In Faridabad, the restricted zone would continue to be 100m.
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday asked the Centre to clarify the stand of the Union ministry of defence (MoD) on the issue whether restrictions around the Gurgaon-based ammunition depot of the Indian Air Force (IAF) are within 900 metres or 300m.
A formal notification, however, is yet to be issued in this regard.On July 28, 2016, the Union government had designated deputy commissioners of Gurgaon and Faridabad as collectors under the Works of Defence Act 1903 empowering them to take action accordingly.
The additional solicitor general (ASG) of India has been asked to remain present in the HC on 10am on Wednesday to clarify the issue.The ASG has been asked to take instructions from the Union government and apprise the court about the restricted zone.A division bench headed by Chief Justice Krishan Murari passed these orders while hearing the ongoing petition on the issue.
