Why Haryana needs to be more vigilant after SC bans illegal mining in Rajasthan

GURUGRAM: Haryana has every reason to be worried by the Supreme Court order banning illegal mining in Rajasthan . These units are also believed to be another way to facilitate illegal mining in the region.“The CEC inspected these units in July this year. These crushers are dependent on the illegally sourced stones and thus it automatically promotes illegal mining in the area,” said Ramesh Arya, who has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against illegal mining in Haryana and Rajasthan.“It is a simple concept of demand and supply. In 2016, only 10 FIRs were filed by Gurugram police for illegal mining. The surveillance needs to be increased and the same has been instructed.”In 2002, mining was banned in an area spanning 448 square kilometres in three districts in south Haryana – Gurugram, Mewat and Faridabad .
