The list of such vehicles should be published on the websites of the CPCB and the transport departments of NCR.
“Due to non-implementation of the order on stickers, it has not been possible to weed out 10-year-old old diesel and 15-year old petrol vehicles from the roads.
Vehicles violating the order will be impounded.
Similarly, a meaningful advertisement should be published in local newspapers for the convenience of the owners of the vehicles,” the court said.Bhure Lal, chairman of the authority, in his note said he had visited various ‘hot spots’ of pollution like Anand Vihar, Dwarka, Faridabad, Narela and Bawana in NCR and the private companies continued to violate the law.
The court passed the order after advocate Aparajita Singh, who is assisting the bench as amicus curiae, contended that old vehicles continue to ply on the roads despite being banned and the transport department should impound such polluting vehicles which are adding to the toxic levels in the air.She contended that vehicular pollution had increased by 40% in the NCR and its contribution to pollution is pegged at 41%.
