DALELPUR (GREATER NOIDA): It's a small village that technically falls in Greater Noida but is located near Faridabad on the banks of the Yamuna . Local people say they buy bikes and cars in the names of their relatives living in Noida and Greater Noida. In some cases, the Greater Noida police arrives a day after a crime. DALELPUR (GREATER NOIDA): It's a small village that technically falls in Greater Noida but is located near Faridabad on the banks of the Yamuna . Welcome to Dalelpur, where residents continue to face a dearth of basic amenities even 71 years after Independence - it has no proper roads, primary school, health centre or police post. Moreover, with the number of voters shrinking from 240 to 16 in the past decade (many have moved to Faridabad), politicians hardly canvass in this village. And for the residents, it's 15km if they cross the river by boat and 70km if they go by road to their polling booth in Greater Noida's Ajayabpur village. As usual, the villagers are not enthusiastic about the Lok Sabha election. Many of them are also not sure if the voting is worth their time and money since the village has suffered systematic negligence since it became a part of Gautam Budh Nagar during the delimitation in the 1980s."There were around 240 voters some 10 years ago but the number has reduced to 16 now. There is no school, college, hospital, dispensary, drainage system. The residents are basically cut off from all the government welfare schemes. Officials do not even come for Census or providing polio drops," said Neeraj Tyagi, a local resident.Locals claim that neither the elected representatives nor the Gautam Budh Nagar administration did any development work in the village. "There are a few voters hence no political leaders come here for canvassing in elections. In the last Lok Sabha elections, we had used a boat to cross the Yamuna river to cast votes. But this time, we are not sure we will be vote," said Satveer Tyagi, another resident.Residents say in the past five years, not a single government official visited them. "We have also not seen our MLA and MP in person. Four families are located on the banks of Yamuna, while some other families are living in thatched houses on farm land. Many people in neighbouring villages do not know about us," said another villager. Most residents do not have passports, ration cards or aadhaar cards. Since they lack address proof, they can't buy vehicles in their names. Local people say they buy bikes and cars in the names of their relatives living in Noida and Greater Noida. Locals also claim safety is a major concern in the village.Satveer said, "Dalelpur comes under Greater Noida's Knowledge Park police station. In some cases, the Greater Noida police arrives a day after a crime. Sometimes they ask us to send a car so that they can come to the village."Residents feel if UP can't develop the village, the government should consider giving it back to Haryana. "The Haryana government provides us electricity. Our children study in private schools in Greater Faridabad. If Noida can't do any development, we should be part of Haryana," said Gurmit Singh. "What is shocking is that earlier my name appeared on the electoral rolls. I recently checked and found my name was deleted."When contacted, M N Upadhyaya, ADM (finance and revenue) and deputy district election officer, said the administration will address Dalelpur voters' concerns. "We will send a team for voters' awareness in the village. We will also arrange a boat to facilitate their commuting on polling day. If some names have been removed, we will investigate the matter and take necessary action," he said.
