Nirbhaya fund: Haryana to build more centres to help violence affected women

Funds for construction of separate buildings of six OSCs across Haryana are expected to be sanctioned soon. One stop centre is integrated to women helpline number 181 and also other existing helpline numbers. A steering and monitoring committee under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner has been constituted to implement the scheme in seven districts.In the first phase as many as 36 'one stop centres' were constructed across India through 'Nirbhaya fund' and in the second phase there is a target to establish 150 such centres in various states. These victims, irrespective of their age, also include those who face domestic violence, human trafficking, acid attacks and honour related crimes.In the second phase, the state government is now going to start construction work of separate buildings of OSCs at Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Rewari, Narnaul and Bhiwani. CHANDIGARH: After opening north India's first One Stop Centre(OSC), also known as Sakhi centre, at Karnal in 2015 under the 'Nirbhaya fund' to provide integrated support to women affected by any kind of violence, Haryana government is going to establish six more such centres.In the first phase, the OSC was opened at Karnal through 100 percent centrally sponsored scheme to provide assistance under one roof to the women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse.

CHANDIGARH: After opening north India's first One Stop Centre(OSC), also known as Sakhi centre, at Karnal in 2015 under the 'Nirbhaya fund' to provide integrated support to women affected by any kind of violence, Haryana government is going to establish six more such centres.In the first phase, the OSC was opened at Karnal through 100 percent centrally sponsored scheme to provide assistance under one roof to the women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse. These victims, irrespective of their age, also include those who face domestic violence, human trafficking, acid attacks and honour related crimes.In the second phase, the state government is now going to start construction work of separate buildings of OSCs at Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Rewari, Narnaul and Bhiwani. But now for the construction of these centres, central government would provide 60 percent of funds and rest of the amount would have to be shared by the state government.Director of women and child development department Renu Phulia said that at OSC, services like medical assistance, police assistance, psycho-social counseling, legal aid and shelter are provided to needy women.Since its inauguration on August 31, 2015, the Karnal OSC has provided assistance to as many as 395 women victims of violence. For providing assistance to the girls below 18 years of age, institutions established under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, are being linked with these OSCs.Budget allocation for running of each OSC is Rs 43 lakh per centre of which Rs 37 lakh is the cost of building construction.
