CHANDIGARH: The teams of Haryana chief minister's flying squad on Wednesday conducted raids at 25 different places in the state including 22 offices of secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and three other places and registered three cases besides initiating inquiry in several other cases in a fortnight.Inspector General of Police (IGP), security Sanjay Kumar said that various irregularities have been found during the raids conducted at the RTA offices and on the basis of which, three cases has been registered. Investigation in many other cases is in progress and it is expected that more case would be registered.Complaints have been received that work in the RTA offices were being done with the connivance of middlemen thus giving a hard time to the people visiting the offices. Taking cognizance of these complaints, the chief minister had directed to conduct raids to unearth this nexus, he added.He said that during a raid conducted in the office of RTA Faridabad, a middleman namely Succha alias Saurabh has been caught while taking hundred to two hundred times more fees than the prescribed fee from the people in the name of challan. During the interrogation, he revealed that he used to prepare documents regarding passing of vehicle by taking bribe.A case under Section 384 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at City Police Station in Ballabhgarh. Further investigation into the case is in progress, he added.He said that in the office of RTA, Dadri, it was found that cutting has been done in the old challan receipts and less than prescribed fees has been charged. He said that 29 such challans have been found in which the vehicle owners have been given undue benefit by tempering the receipts. A case under Section 409, 420, 167 and 168 of IPC has been registered against the then Regional Transport Officer , assistant secretary and concerned clerk in this regard. He said that a similar case was also detected in RTA Office, Bhiwani where the government incurred huge loss.Sanjay Kumar said that during the raid conducted in the office of RTA, Bhiwani it was found that as against cash of Rs 1,22,330 only Rs 76,080 has been received. Further verification in the case is being done and if any irregularity is found, stern action would be taken against the guilty. He said in RTA office, Hisar four persons were found working illegally. Neither they were the employees of Transport Department nor were they directly or indirectly related to the office. Similarly, four buses in Sirsa and one bus in Fatehabad has been impounded for plying without permit.He said that in the office of RTA Yamunangar, it was found that applications of December 2016 and January 2017 regarding the issuance of new license and registration of vehicles are still pending. Departmental action or criminal case would be registered against those found guilty in the investigation, he added. He said that in RTA Office, Panchkula, an empty challan book pre-signed by assistant secretary has been recovered.He said that further verification of record is being done by the flying squad in other districts also and if the involvement of government employees is found than sections under Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act would also be added.
