HC hears Junaid's father's plea for independent probe

Junaid's father Jalaluddin through his counsel Arshdeep Singh Cheema had filed a petition on October 26, seeking a probe by an independent agency such as the CBI in the case.The petitioner had also demanded stay on the trial ongoing in a Faridabad court in the case. CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday heard the arguments on a petition seeking an independent probe into the lynching of 17-year-old Junaid Khan, who was stabbed to death on a train in June.The bench of Justice Rajan Gupta fixed November 7 as the next date of hearing in the case. "The court today heard the arguments on a petition, seeking independent probe in the case," Cheema said.Junaid, on board a Mathura-bound train, was stabbed to death when he, along with his brothers, was returning home to Khandawli village after shopping for Eid in Delhi in June this year.His body was dumped close to Asaoti village in Faridabad and the trial is going on in a court in the district.The HC has allowed the examination of official witnesses in the case in the Faridabad court on Monday, Cheema said.After the plea of Junaid's father, the HC had issued a notice to the CBI and the Haryana government.
