Ryan murder: No commerce tutor in observation home, juvenile taught humanities

"The Class 11 student was not good in his studies, but had managed to get pass marks in school.His father said, "His studies have gone for a toss. But the education imparted to the children is based not on the CBSE pattern, but is of the open school module.Dineshwar Yadav, superintendent, observation home, said, "The Class 11 student is a commerce student. Two teachers appointed by the district administration come to the observation home regularly to teach the kids. Every day, he used to go for coaching classes but now in this observation home, he is not allowed any such facility. We don't have the facility to provide him a teacher who has a commerce background.

GURUGRAM: The Class 11 student of Ryan International School , Bhondsi, apprehended by the CBI on September 8 in connection with the murder of seven year-old Pradyumn Thakur from the same school, is currently housed in the observation home in Faridabad where his studies have taken a hit.The observation home has facilities to educate children and provide them with basic study materials. But the education imparted to the children is based not on the CBSE pattern, but is of the open school module.Dineshwar Yadav, superintendent, observation home, said, "The Class 11 student is a commerce student. We don't have the facility to provide him a teacher who has a commerce background. Students who are from a science background also can't pursue their studies here. The observation home only has facilities to teach humanities . So, now, the youngster is studying humanities."Yadav added, "There are 84 children in this observation home. All of them are given education. Two teachers appointed by the district administration come to the observation home regularly to teach the kids. Kids below the age of 14 years are taught in the primary class. They all sit and study together. On the other hand, 14-plus kids attend the senior class."The Class 11 student was not good in his studies, but had managed to get pass marks in school.His father said, "His studies have gone for a toss. He has not been doing his regular studies. He had asked for his textbooks last time, which we had given him. Every day, he used to go for coaching classes but now in this observation home, he is not allowed any such facility."Yadav said, "Right now, the kid has not told us whether he will appear for exams next year through open school or not. Let's see what he says. He is studying books which his parents have given him."The Ryan student likes to play badminton in his free time. Before his detention, he used to play the piano too. "He has not demanded for a piano yet, but if he does, we might give him one. He is interacting with other kids and has not caused any problem," added Yadav.
