GHAZIABAD: The decomposed body of a 42-year-old software engineer was found in a flat in Crossings Republik on Friday. Police said the man might have died after falling on the floor in a drunken state two days ago.When the neighbours felt a foul smell emanating from the house on Friday, they informed police.The man has been identified as Jagdeesh Singh, who had been living in a 10th floor flat in Panchsheel Wellington for the past three years with his wife Sunita and a 10-year-old son. According to police, Jagdeesh’s wife and son had gone to their native place in Almora a week ago to spend the summer vacation.After questioning Jagdeesh’s neighbour and his maid, police came to the conclusion that he died on the night of June 27.“The maid who worked at his flat told us that she had last seen him on the morning of June 27 when she came there for work. The next day, when she went to his flat, he did not open the door despite knocking several times,” said Jawahar Lal Tomar, the investigating officer.Tomar added that Jagdeesh’s body was found lying face down in the drawing room of the flat. His spectacles were found broken and lying below his face. There were traces of blood oozing out of his broken nose and mouth due to injuries on his face.Jagdeesh’s family in Almora and his elder brother Mahipal Singh, who lives in Kanpur, have been informed about his death.Mahipal said his brother worked as a software engineer with Tata Consultancy Services till sometime back and had switched to a new company recently.
