DM to hold talks with landowners for flights from Hindon air base

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has been entrusted with the responsibility of installing streetlights on the road leading to the terminal. “Apart from this, the district magistrate has been authorised to hold talks with the farmers and bring on board those who are opposed to the new lease offered. According to the agreement, the AAI will develop the terminal while the job of building an approach road to the terminal has been handed over to the PWD. The total land required for the project is 42,000sqm, of which about 36,000sqm is owned by the 43 farmers while the remaining 7000sqm is in the possession of the housing board. The housing board has agreed to the new lease rate and is ready to part with the 7000sqm under its possession.Earlier in April, the Airports Authority of India had floated tenders for building civic infrastructure at the Hindon air force station .

GHAZIABAD: The special secretary in the civil aviation department has directed the district administration to meet farmers whose land has been identified for the expansion of the Hindon air base for civilian operations and prepare a draft of the lease agreement.“In a recent meeting with the special secretary of the civil aviation department, Surya Pal Gangwar, we have been instructed to prepare a draft of the lease that would be signed between farmers of Sikandapur village and the district administration,” said Sunil Kumar Singh, ADM (finance). “Apart from this, the district magistrate has been authorised to hold talks with the farmers and bring on board those who are opposed to the new lease offered. We expect a deal with the farmers to be signed very soon,” he added.The new lease rate of Rs 200/sqm per year for a period of three years was offered to 43 farmers in total and most of them were learnt to have given their consent. The total land required for the project is 42,000sqm, of which about 36,000sqm is owned by the 43 farmers while the remaining 7000sqm is in the possession of the housing board. A 700m stretch between Bhowpura to Sikandarpur will be broadened from 6 to 9 metres while another 60 metres of road leading to the terminal will be developed by the PWD.In addition to this, the electricity department will install five transformers of 100KvA each in the area.
