GHAZIABAD: More than 4,700 flats , which were delayed by developers, have been handed over to homebuyers in the city recently. This was announced by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) after a stock-taking meeting with 12 builders on Friday.“According to a status report, submitted by builders who attended the meeting, 4,723 fresh homebuyers have been given possession of their flats across 27 projects,” VK Singh, OSD to the authority, told TOI. “Earlier 8,664 flats had been handed over to homebuyers. Our constant prodding compelled the builders to hand over a total of 13,387 flats till date, of 19,965 flats which were delayed,” he added.Out of eight zones, the highest number of flat handovers came from zone 5 under which comes Crossings Republik where 3,264 flats were delivered as against 3,048 earlier. Between seven projects in this zone, there were 6,917 flats that were in dispute over delayed possession. “There are now 605 flats left to be delivered, which are in different stages of completion,” said Singh.Zone 7 saw handing over of 576 fresh flats, which brings total handovers to 1,768 if the earlier figure of 1,192 apartment possessions are taken into accont. In zone 1, 518 fresh possessions have been given and total handovers so far is 2,594. “Between six projects in this zone, there are only 1642 flats that remain to be delivered of a total of 4,236 flats,” the OSD said.In Zone 6 between three builders, there were 1,162 flats under dispute over delayed possession. The builders have delivered 686 flats, including 365 fresh handovers, Singh said.However in zones 3,4 and 8, no fresh handovers have taken place. Earlier of l,258 flats between two builders, 129 were handed over in zone 3. Of 3,646 flats under dispute between four builders in zone 4, 1,835 were handed over. Similarly, in zone 8, only 63 buyers have been given possessions out of 2,172.“Fifteen builders of 27 had attended the meet. Notices will be issued to the developers who skipped the meet,” he added.
